HOW IT STARTED
In the early 70s, Frances and Rich Daunt fell in love with the sleepy beach town of Montauk. They bought a small bungalow and found themselves hosting more family and friends than their home could fit. In 1977, they found a way to invite more people–they purchased The Albatross Motel and our family’s hospitality journey began.
BIRD ON THE ROOF
Just across the street and part of the Daunt’s Albatross family, The Bird is a vibrant restaurant that celebrates the town’s rich history and community spirit. Originally Bird on the Roof, the beloved eatery was reimagined in 2023 by third-generation owner of the Albatross, Leo Daunt. Their vision blends nostalgia with innovation, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere.
GROUP GATHERINGS
Our 24 room hotel, pool, courtyard and café are a wonderful backdrop for group gatherings. From management offsites and product launches to weddings and special occasions, we love sharing our space to support collaboration and connection. Whatever your vision, we can help you bring it to life.
